Amidou Koïta

His music relates to the Bwaba, a people in northern Burkina Faso. He focuses on developing his own unique percussion - integrating the traditional calabash into modern drumming. This creation has already influenced the contemporary practice of musicians from Burkina Faso and beyond.
In his lyrics, Amidou deals with current issues. He performs his mainly in the Bwamu and Diola languages. The songs are encouraging, consciousness-raising, uplifting and life-affirming and absolutely danceable.
The highlight of his career was certainly an engagement with Hollywood in Vienna. He also lent his voice to Baba MAAL in the film BLACK PANTHERS.
On our life journey there are many colors, speeds and turns. Amidou wants to bring them closer to us in a lively and danceable form.
