With ‘Bygone Innocence’, Göksu Kunak (born 1985) presents a multimedia work complex that deals with the Susurluk car accident in 1996.
Weapons were found in the Mercedes involved in the accident, and the passengers, some of whom died in the crash, included the former Istanbul police commissioner and a member of the Grey Wolves organisation who was wanted by Interpol.
The accident had a lasting impact on Turkish society and politics and revealed the existence of a criminal network that had been the subject of speculation even before the accident.
‘Bygone Innocence’ was originally created for the PİLEVNELİ Gallery, Istanbul.
