Trio Mara

Womens's Songs from Kurdistan
Concert

22.04.22, 19:30
Sargfabrik Vienna
Goldschlagstraße 169, 1140 Wien

Mara is Zazaki, one of the oldest native languages of the Middle East, and means "from us". TRIO MARA draws from the rich fund of traditional Kurdish songs, focusing on songs by women and about women from Kurdistan. However, MARA's music reflects not only the suffering and melancholy of the people of the Middle East, but also their courage to face life and their longings.

Finding a new expression with the meeting of classical and traditional music. Authentic, virtuosic, always following new inspirations, these songs become an experience. Trio Mara is not content with Kurdish alone, but also brings new worlds of sound to life with their own interpretations of songs in other Middle Eastern languages.

Sakîna Teyna - voice, Naze Isxan - piano, Nure Dlovani - violin

After the concert there will be an artist talk on the topic of flight and migration. The musicians will talk about their own flight background, why they had to leave their country and how they were able to re-establish themselves as musicians in Austria and Germany.
