Conference in cooperation with the FWF research project "Dramaturgies after Postdramatic Theater" and the Institute for Theater, Film and Media Studies at the University of Vienna.

The conference invites participants to discuss the challenges of autofictional performance in a dialog between international artists and academics. In contemporary theater and dance performances, autobiographical discourses are booming: they are expressed in the form of biographies of marginalized people or critically examine the phantasms of visual 'authenticity' in the contemporary media landscape. How can the autobiographical be conceived, conceptualized and expressed in a political way in theater, dance and performance, especially now that the biographical threatens to become inflationary in social media?
