Seeing diversity beyond a marketing tool is difficult for many. Cultural institutions are challenged to reach out to new groups of visitors and meet them at eye level in order to develop programs that address previously underrepresented topics. In addition to programming and community outreach, staff diversification must not be lost. Communities demand the principle of diversity as a cross-cutting issue at all levels - audience, programming, and staff. No diversity without commitments - one of the conclusions of the Forum Fair Culture series, which we initiated and carried out together with the UNESCO Commission Austria.
With the Forum Fair Culture goes Steiermark event, we are asking the same questions in a context not so far away: the context of cultural work in Graz.
