A festival that captures the world in its diversity, in impressive images and strong characters, and presents them in a bundle.

The Linz International Short Film Festival will take place for the fifth time in Linz, Upper Austria, from October 4 to 8, 2022. The LINZ ISFF follows the vision of focusing on short film as an independent film format. The festival center is located at the Kunstuniversität Linz, Hauptplatz 8, and two special programs are planned at the City-Kino Linz. In collaboration with the Crossing Europe Film Festival, there is a program by Local Artists from Upper Austria, and a program on climate change in collaboration with the Unified Filmmakers from Germany.

The festival has received 1141 film submissions from 97 countries again this year. Of these, 64 feature, animation and documentary films will run in the main competition. More than 50 of these successful films will celebrate their Austrian premiere at the Linz ISFF 2022. An international jury of experts will select the best films in each category. The participating films will be honored at the awards ceremony on October 8 in the categories Best Fiction, Documentary, Animation, as well as Best Director, Best Screenplay and Acting, Best Editing, Sound and Best Austrian Film.

50 international filmmakers will be at the festival in Linz this year.  In daily Panel Discussions, the festival offers the opportunity for direct exchange with filmmakers in in-depth conversations with present filmmakers.

Finally, as part of the diverse supporting program, the festival is pleased to announce once again the Nightline with live acts and DJs at the Kapu and the Festival Center at the Linz University of the Arts. In addition, other valuable industry events will take place, such as a pitch session for the co-production fund, an acting masterclass, a producers meeting, ... Refreshing drinks and delicious finger food await you at the Festival Café. Festival passes are now available online at linzis.kupfticket.at and on site during the festival (at the Festival Center).
