Marlene Kager

Marlene Kager (they/them) lives and works in Vienna as a graphic designer, curator, and artist. Starting from graphic design, Kager has developed an artistic language that increasingly shifts toward sound art and research-based visual practice, with a particular focus on immersive, narrative-driven spatial concepts.

In tone-deaf a world of key, the first part of an ongoing series, Kager examines the use of acoustic weapons and their psychological effects. The work primarily takes the form of sound installations, in which sound systems are not understood merely as amplifiers but as instruments in their own right. Subwoofers, in this context, function as resonant bodies of sonic physicality.
